As a Commercial Property Underwriter, you will be responsible for both automated and human decision processes across our lending platform and be an integral part for defining the strategy and our underwriting roadmap as we scale, and help to lead the business.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the delivery of lending decisions based on an overall consideration of risks and mitigants to risk, with level of underwriting applied to each case being proportionate to the risk.
  • Process new business in line with credit policy, the responsible lending policy, the underwriting manual and the underwriting process manual.
  • Participate and contribute to ongoing business improvement activity.
  • To assess borrower creditworthiness and underwrite new mortgage applications/new business loans from initial receipt through to completion.
  • Work effectively individually and as a team with the various functions of the division.
  • Ensure all customer interactions are recorded according to the company’s policy and our reporting to the credit bureaus is accurate.
  • Assist within ensuring there is a low level of arrears and losses.
  • Ensure all checks for quality, compliance have been completed on systems.
  • Ensure comprehensive up to date procedures/manuals are documented and followed.

Experience/skills required for the role of Commercial Property Underwriter:

  1. 2-3 years’ experience working as a commercial property underwriter, ideally from high street banks, challenger banks or bespoke finance house.
  2. Flexible and adaptable to new products, processes and policies.
  3. Knowledge of working under pressure to tight deadlines-a ‘can do’ attitude.
  4. Excellent communication skills.
  5. Genuine interest in the fin-tech space, in particular business lending.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks.
  7. Adaptability and flexibility to accommodate ever changing business needs

Department for International Trade is the government organisation that supports British companies to develop business overseas, in part, through its regional network of international trade advisers. DIT wants to expand its reach by recruiting additional advisers including some specialists for the London and the South East regions.

Working for DIT’s delivery partner in London and the South East Newable, you will build effective long term relationships with owners of small and mid-sized businesses to build their international business strategy. As well as the need to advise and mentor companies you will help deliver DIT and partners’ full range of products and services drawing on the support of DIT’s worldwide network.

Newable is looking to fill several DIT International Trade Adviser posts to support companies based in London and the South East Regions.

You will need to have wide-ranging, senior level experience in international trade, be of graduate calibre, together with commercial acumen and a desire to share your experience with growing companies. As an experienced international business person you will use your knowledge to assist between 30-40 owners, directors and managers of small businesses or senior executives of mid-sized businesses each year to take their first steps into new international markets or develop existing markets.

• A background of working with both SMEs and Corporates and the ability to demonstrate empathy for entrepreneurial culture and to build effective relationships at Board level are crucial.
• You will be a confident networker able to build professional relationships with private sector business support providers at the local level. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
