The Investing in Women Code is a commitment to support the advancement of female entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom by improving female entrepreneurs’ access to tools, resources and finance from the financial services sector. A diverse and inclusive business ecosystem is good for customers, entrepreneurs, businesses, investors, and society. HM Treasury and the signatory firms share a commitment to work in partnership to make the United Kingdom one of the most attractive countries in the world to start and grow a business by advancing female entrepreneurship.
The Investing in Women Code recognises that there is already valuable work underway by individual organisations to help women who are seeking to start or scale up their businesses. Signatories to the Investing in Women Code aim to build on this ongoing work.
Newable Ventures is committed to improving female entrepreneurs’ access to finance, resources and tools and have several initiatives to support this, such as the Fuelling Ambition programme of support and events. Newable have also organised the Diversity Summit and Newable Ventures have also partnered with Beauhurst to report on female entrepreneurship and women in early stage investment.
Earlier this year, we commissioned a report by Beauhurst on female entrepreneurship and women in early stage investment. As an issue that is more and more on the agenda, we really wanted to contribute to thorough research that would present where the industry stands today, so we can all continue to work towards levelling the playing field.
I am pleased to be working with HM Treasury Investing in Women Code as this brings about more transparency and allows for investors like Newable Ventures to increase the number of female entrepreneurs we can support whilst also ensuring we do not create any positive biases.
Avantika Gupta, Associate Investment Director at Newable Ventures.
The Investing in Women Code is very much in line with what Newable believes in and hopes to be a part of the change that is very much needed.
